C&A Partners with NYSERDA
Recently, Crawford & Associates became a Business Partner with NYSERDA's Commercial Lighting Program (CLP). As a Business Parnter, C&A qualifies for design incentives when eligible projects meet the requirements of the CLP. Our clients will benefit in two ways: they will be gaining an efficient lighting design and will also become eligible for incentives to be used for installation costs.

C&A Surveying Division Acquires Trimble VX Robotic Total Station
Crawford & Associates Surveying Division recently acquired a Trimble VX Spatial Station. This robotic technology will enhance our capabilities by allowing us to preform topographic surveys, plot plans, and stake outs with greater speed and accuracy. Because this instrument is controlled by a single operator it allows us to reduce the time traditionally required to carry out our field work.
Our survey team, previously doing business as Alvin B. Huehnel Land Surveying, joined Crawford & Associates Engineering in January 2008. Our group provides a full array of surveying capabilities from Subdivisions and Lot Line Adjustments to ALTA/ACSM, Topographic, Boundary and Construction Surveys. We also have an extensive survey database.

Michelle Ewert Earns CPESC
Michelle Ewert from our Environmental Division has received her Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) designation from the Soil and Water Conservation Society and the International Erosion Control Association.
To gain this certification, Ewert had to pass a written exam to determine her proficiency in the principals, practices, and legislation of erosion and sediment control. Many states and municipalities recognize the CPESC certification and require a qualified representative during construction projects to be responsible for the design of erosion control measures that will be used at each site. This is especially important today as Federal environmental guidelines such as the EPA's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II regulations require erosion and sediment control measures for all construction projects disturbing one acre or more.
With Ewert's certification, our firm may now assist on projects by navigating the permitting process, designing erosion and sediment control and stormwater management plans that comply with regulations, and helping to ensure that these plans are effectively implemented.
